A friend of mine stayed with me at length when he was going through some tough times and gave me his whisky collection because he wasn’t drinking much anymore. Unfortunately, while we have enjoyed it, we don’t drink very much ourselves and it was going to take several centuries at the rate we were drinking.
Enter Scotchoberfest — aka, come to our house and drink our alcohol please.
As a party, it was a success. As a vehicle for drinking alcohol… let’s just say that adults don’t do nearly as good a job as high school and college students do at knocking back alcohol.
Our house again proved to be a good place to host a party though: the large kitchen allows people to gather there without too much crowding, and the “dining room” (small bed-room size, definitely wouldn’t fit most dining room tables) and spacious living room provide a bit of additional sound and space separation to make multiple conversations easier.
This also may mark the first gathering I’ve been at with my husband that hasn’t involved any playing of Rockband whatsoever.
I got to meet a gaming friend for the first time as well: nothing like being willing to come to a stranger’s house just because you raid with them in an MMO! (WoW in this case) Thanks for coming, Solanis, we enjoyed your company.
And now it’s time to sleep.
